The 1st release of their Cask Collaboration series, this is Mossburn’s Speyside Blended Malt, finished in Foursquare Rum casks. To create this whisky, the Master Blender at Mossburn worked with Foursquare to select American oak ex rum casks.
The Master Blender chose a number of mature Speyside single malts, and combined these to create a nutty, honeyed dram which was then finished for a year in these Foursquare rum casks, adding rich Muscavado notes. A vatting of 38 casks, bottled at a batch strength of 57.7%.
Nose – Bright and fruit filled with a slight estery note, then coconut and ginger biscuits.
Palate – Orchard fruits, winter spice, apples, pears and oily treacle. Brown sugar emerges after some time.
Finish – Long winter spice, vanilla, cocoa, hint of tropical fruits with pastry. An elegant dram. The Speyside malts enhanced, rather than transformed, by the rum casks.
